A variety of Dolcetto exist, the finest is the one with the red stalks, sparse clusters and of a pyramidal shape. The pulp is rich and red tinted, the leaf is small, thick and wrinkled, the flowering is early, so the ripening period is one of the most precocious. Tasting Note: The Docletto wine, contrary to the meaning of its name, is a dry wine, with a pleasant, slightly almondy background or bitter, with low acidity and low tannin. This wine is of a nice ruby red, intense, with a few garnet reflections, a fruity aroma, a dry taste but soft, harmonious, pleasantly almondy and round. A very nice pattern. ASKOS is the name of our project of rediscovery and selection of ancient Apulian grape varieties that are almost disappearing. Wines are produced by using exclusively these indigenous varietals, cultivated in their most suitable terroirs according the traditional method. We have chosen a Greek “Askos” (=Decanter) as a symbol of the wine making, a practice that in Puglia was started by the ancient Greeks.
Ruby red with purplish shimmer, on the nose it presents a distinct red berries aroma, from raspberry, sour cherry, to blackcurrant, followed by liquorices, rhubarb and rawhide leather. On the mouth it tastes soft with a good fatness, very elegant and well balanced by a tannins party. The long finish on the palate shows a touch of acidity and a great freshness.

Casale del Giglio Cesanese Lazio IGT 2016, Italy - 750ml
Description: Cesanese is the red grape variety of Lazio and was used in Roman winemaking. Casale del Giglio uses 100% Cesanese for this Lazio Rosso, fermented with native yeasts and kept on the skins for 10-12 days. An indigenous grape of Italy, this wine is deep ruby red with intense aromas of marasca cherry followed by spicy notes of white-, black-pepper and violet.
